Treating water with a “Photo-Cat”

Contaminated water goes in, and purified water leaves the system.  It sounds simple and for Purifics’ customers it is that simple!

The treatment of contaminated water is easy and worry-free for Purifics customers because the Purifics Photo-Cat system does not routinely require any chemicals to be added to the process or to be stored on the premises. The completely automated Photo-Cat system actually destroys the contaminants during the process. Essentially all organic contaminants, plus various inorganic ones can be treated using the Photo-Cat patented technology. This technology has proven itself in groundwater or air remediation, industrial process water treatment, potable water, and many other applications.

The Purifics system cleans water and air in a remarkable way. It is a “slurry-based TiO2 photo catalytic system” or simply “Photo-Cat”. Ultraviolet light activates the slurry catalyst and so starts the process of destroying contaminants.

In order to make this possible, Purifics uses the innovative technology of Bürkert’s Control Valves for flow and pressure control.  The Photo-Cat System utilizes our Angle Seat Top Control Valve with onboard PID control, directly linked to a pressure transmitter. Using a customized fast closing software, our Top Control valve offers a fast closure speed while still allowing a quick return to the initial operating set point.   A second Bürkert control valve with a diaphragm style body has allowed Purifics to achieve extremely long service life in a tough slurry application.

Bürkert Flow Meters are used for flow monitoring.  Our on/off angle seat valves and rocker coil solenoids have also been specifically selected for several different applications to provide Purifics customers with a maintenance free long cycle life.

A Bürkert Mass Flow Controller with a built-in Profibus Network interface has allowed Purifics to complete their system with remote monitoring and adjustment of the air flow, which is a critical component of the system.
