Chemical Resistance Chart
Bürkert resistApp supports you in your search for compatible materials and compiles information on the chemical resistance of elastomers, plastics and metals for a variety of gaseous and liquid media.
To ensure the reliability and longevity of your products, a great deal of care is required when choosing materials that come into contact with the liquid or gaseous fluids that you are using. This applies in particular to aggressive fluids. Our online tool for testing material resistance will help you select the right materials. For instance, it allows you to evaluate the chemical resistance of stainless steel as well as plastics. Just try it out. Check material resistances online free of charge now!

What is chemical resistance?
Chemical resistance refers to the ability of materials to withstand different types of chemicals. It therefore describes the capacity of a material to resist the destructive processes triggered by reactions between the environment and the surface. If a material is exposed to chemicals or if its chemical resistance is insufficient, this can result in corrosion and can accelerate the breakage of the material. For components or machines made from this material, this has a negative impact on the service life or can lead to their failure.
In this case, a distinction is made between three basic categories:
- Chemically resistant (minimal or no impairment of the material)
- Limited chemical resistance (minor to medium corrosion of the material)
- Not chemically resistant (strong corrosion to total destruction of the material)
